Israeli officials say solution found for US refueler parking dispute at Ben Gurion and Ramon
Israel’s National Security Council has prepared a response to the problem of American refueling aircraft parked at Ben Gurion Airport and Ramon Airport, according to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to ynet. The source said the solution will be implemented in the coming days and that no commercial flights will be canceled.
Earlier, Transportation Minister Miri Regev sent an urgent letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of the deadline on Tuesday, June 16, when the Israel Airports Authority would have to notify airlines about flight cancellations if no solution was found to the parking shortage at Ben Gurion.
In her letter, Regev warned that unless part of the American refueling planes were removed immediately, more than 2.4 million flight tickets for the summer season and the High Holidays could be canceled.
