The Israel Defense Forces announced the killing of Muhammad Bassam Muhammad Mushtaha, a Hamas platoon commander in the Shati Brigade, during an operation in northern Gaza on July 30, 2026. Mushtaha was involved in the October 7 massacre when he infiltrated Israeli territory and subsequently participated in holding numerous Israeli hostages, including Zahi Idan, Sergeant Noa Marziano, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Uri Magidish, Naama Levi, and Matan Angrist. Recently, he was actively planning terror attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians. His elimination was aimed at neutralizing this ongoing threat.
