Jared Kushner Plans Jerusalem Visit Amid Controversy Over Trump Peace Deal

Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's envoy, is scheduled to visit Jerusalem next week as part of efforts to advance the US administration's 20-point peace plan. However, even before his arrival, Israeli officials have expressed strong opposition, accusing Kushner of pushing an agreement that no one in Israel is willing to accept. This tension arises amid ongoing negotiations aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

An official from the Israeli-Palestinian peace council confirmed to i24NEWS that Kushner will be accompanied by UN envoy Nikolay Mladenov and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair during the visit. The trio will engage in discussions focused on advancing the peace plan. The official emphasized that both the United States and Israel agree on the ultimate goal: a demilitarized Hamas. "We will listen to the concerns raised and discuss the next steps," the official said, highlighting the shared commitment to achieving the desired outcome and accelerating progress.

Following the Jerusalem meetings, Kushner, Mladenov, and Blair are expected to travel to Cairo to meet with Egyptian officials and other mediators. Concrete steps for implementing the roadmap will be determined there, with the objective of establishing a demilitarized Gaza Strip. Under the plan, Hamas would transfer full authority to a technocratic Palestinian government responsible for Gaza's reconstruction and governance.
