Trump says Israel’s Beirut strike should not have happened
Former U.S. President Donald Trump said Israel’s morning strike in Beirut “should not have happened,” especially on what he described as a special day when the sides were close to a peace deal with Iran. He said Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but argued that the threat it answered was “very small and insignificant,” and said no one was killed, injured, or harmed.
Trump said the strike should not disrupt what he called an important process that could bring peace to the region, including Lebanon. He urged all sides to pull back and avoid escalation, saying there should be no further Israeli attacks anywhere in Lebanon.
He also said there should be no further attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel. Trump concluded that this could be the beginning of “a long and beautiful peace,” and warned, “Do not spoil it.”
