Trump says Netanyahu should not have struck Beirut’s Dahiyeh, and backs a deal with Iran
U.S. President Donald Trump commented on Israel’s strikes in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, saying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should not have carried them out. Trump said, “I did not like it at all,” and added that Israel launched “two small missiles” that missed their target by a wide margin.
Trump argued that such actions only fuel an endless cycle of retaliation in the Middle East. “They should shoot back, then he will shoot back, and then the whole thing will never stop in the Middle East,” he said.
He also claimed that Netanyahu is comfortable with a possible agreement with Iran. “Bibi is fine with it. Why is that good for Bibi?” Trump said, while stressing that Iran must not be allowed to have nuclear weapons “under any circumstances.”
