Israeli Police Charge Tamra Resident for Shooting at Bicycle Repair Shop

On July 4, 2026, Israeli police and the Haifa District Attorney's Office charged a 28-year-old man from Tamra for opening fire at a bicycle repair shop in the city. The shooting injured a local resident moderately, who was sedated and ventilated while receiving medical treatment. Several other people were present during the incident, which was captured on security cameras.

Following the report, Northern District police deployed significant forces to the scene and quickly launched an investigation. Within hours, investigators identified and arrested the suspect. Authorities also located the vehicle used in the escape, which had been abandoned in Haifa. During the suspect's arrest, police found drugs at his home exceeding personal use quantities.

After concluding the investigation and filing the indictment, prosecutors requested the suspect's detention until the end of legal proceedings. Police emphasized their ongoing efforts to combat crime and illegal weapons possession, noting that over 570 lethal weapons have been seized in the Northern District since the start of the year.

This shooting follows another violent incident in Tamra just three days earlier, when a 33-year-old man was fatally shot and a 29-year-old seriously injured. Both victims were treated and transported to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
