Israeli Police Uncover Hidden Gun and Ammunition in Tamra Basement During Raid
Israeli police forces, including Northern District officers and Border Police fighters, conducted a targeted operation in the city of Tamra as part of the "Iron Net" campaign against serious crime in Arab neighborhoods. During a search of a residential home, officers discovered a concealed firearm and a large quantity of ammunition hidden beneath a makeshift wooden ramp at the entrance to the building's basement. The weapon was cleverly disguised inside a long green military sock, which was retrieved by a Border Police officer wearing protective gloves. The officer carefully removed a modern black semi-automatic pistol and a fully loaded extended magazine, indicating the weapon was ready for immediate use.
A 25-year-old local resident was arrested on suspicion of possessing the weapon and taken for extended interrogation at the police station. Authorities plan to request an extension of his detention to continue the investigation and legal proceedings. The dramatic footage from the scene shows the key moment when the hidden weapon was uncovered, highlighting the police's ongoing efforts to combat illegal arms possession and prevent violent incidents.
The Northern District police emphasized that since the start of the year, over 450 lethal weapons, including rifles, pistols, and explosives, have been seized in the area. The campaign aims to disrupt the flow of illegal arms to criminal elements and eradicate the culture of violence within the sector. Police stated they will continue to use all available technological and intelligence resources to ensure public safety and eliminate illegal weapons possession.
