MK Tali Gottlieb Compares IDF Recruitment Video for Ultra-Orthodox to Nazi Germany and Auschwitz
On Wednesday morning, Israeli Knesset member Tali Gottlieb sharply criticized the IDF's Unit 8200 and the Intelligence Directorate for releasing a recruitment video aimed at encouraging ultra-Orthodox Jews to enlist. Speaking in an interview on Radio 103FM, Gottlieb stated that she would not support turning the ultra-Orthodox community into "a sick evil" and said the video reminded her of Nazi Germany. When pressed on the comparison, she explicitly mentioned Auschwitz, questioning the normalcy of producing such a video to promote enlistment among the ultra-Orthodox.
Gottlieb, a member of the Likud party, also attacked Defense Minister Israel Katz during the interview. She condemned Katz for signing a confidentiality agreement that paved the way for an indictment against her, accusing him of perpetuating bureaucratic dominance and submitting her to a legal adviser she described as persecuting the right-wing. Additionally, she criticized the release of Tal Yinon Dradik, suggesting it occurred despite significant reforms led by the Central Command chief under Katz's tenure.
