Former PM Bennett Calls to Reinstate Administrative Detentions for Jewish Offenders in West Bank

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett addressed the rising tensions in the West Bank on Wednesday, advocating for the reinstatement of administrative detentions specifically targeting Jewish individuals. Speaking in an interview with 103FM, Bennett emphasized that the West Bank is home to 550,000 Israelis, the vast majority of whom are law-abiding citizens who serve in the military reserves and pay taxes. "They are normal people whom I deeply respect," he said.

Bennett acknowledged the existence of a minority that breaks the law and insisted that the law must be enforced firmly against them. When asked directly if he supports bringing back administrative detentions, Bennett responded, "Where relevant, yes; where not, no. I am not afraid of that."

The interviewer, Anat Davidov, questioned Bennett on whether he considers violent acts against Palestinians in the West Bank as Jewish terrorism. Bennett affirmed this, calling it a minority engaging in terror by attacking civilians to instill fear. He condemned actions such as burning homes with residents inside, stating, "This is not Judaism, this is not values. The law is the law."
