Haredi Soldier Injured in Gaza Completes IDF Officer Course After Recovery

Chaim Treitel, a Haredi soldier from Bnei Brak who was wounded by sniper fire during operations in the Gaza Strip, has completed an IDF officer course about six months after signing a permanent service contract. Treitel was injured in the leg during a maneuver in Gaza and underwent over a year of complex rehabilitation. Despite his injury, he returned to serve in the IDF, initially assisting the head of the Haredi sector, Lieutenant Colonel Avigdor Dikstein, before committing to permanent service and finishing the officer training.

Treitel originally enlisted in the Givati Brigade before the war but was reassigned to a non-combat role due to medical reasons. With the outbreak of the conflict, he resumed combat training and returned to frontline service. His parents attended the officer course graduation ceremony, where Treitel reflected on his journey from a child in Bnei Brak to becoming an Israeli officer. He emphasized the significance of the course, which included officers from the "generation of revival" and the post-October 7 leadership generation, highlighting the great responsibility and honor it entails.

In his remarks, Treitel also paid tribute to fallen soldiers, stating that their memory remains deeply in his heart. His experience symbolizes the integration of Haredi soldiers into combat roles and leadership positions within the IDF amid ongoing security challenges.
