Trump Outlines Three Strategic Options for U.S. Policy on Iran, Prefers Economic Pressure

In a recent phone interview with American journalist Ellen Roth, U.S. President Donald Trump detailed three strategic options available to the United States regarding its stance on Iran. Trump emphasized the economic and military weaknesses of Iran, noting the country's 300 percent inflation, devalued currency, and unpaid soldiers who are deserting. He described the first option as continuing current policies to let Iran fail economically and socially, which he considers unsustainable for Iran.

The second option Trump mentioned involves taking a much stronger military stance, stating the possibility of "hitting them really hard." The third strategy focuses on winning economically, which Trump said the U.S. is already pursuing by controlling Iran's financial resources and limiting its ability to borrow money. He claimed the U.S. has full control over Iran's money, likening the U.S. to Iran's banker.

Trump also commented on the nature of negotiations with Iran, describing Iranian negotiators as "very dishonest" and cunning, agreeing to terms but then denying them publicly. The president left open the possibility of escalating military action but highlighted economic pressure as the preferred and ongoing approach.
