Singer Eliya Shokron Releases Emotional Tribute Single for Fallen Childhood Friend
Israeli singer Eliya Shokron has released a deeply moving single titled 'VeHarikoti' in memory of his childhood friend Neriya Aharon, who was killed during the recent war on Simchat Torah. The song, blending verses from Psalm 140 with original lyrics by Shokron, serves as a heartfelt tribute to Neriya, who was known for his big heart and genuine care for others. The family of Neriya, who grew up in the settlement of Neriya alongside Shokron, expressed their gratitude and shared how the friendship endured despite the passage of time and different life paths.
The composition was co-created by Eliya Shokron and Asher Kleinspiz, balancing sorrow with hope. The production involved a team of musicians and technicians including David Lifshitz (production, arrangement, bass, keyboards, backing vocals), Asaf Zamir (drums, percussion), Amit Yitzhak (guitars, oud, strings), and Oren Tzur (string arrangement). Mixing and mastering were done by Shmulik Daniel, while Michal Ohayon handled photography and Naama Stepanski created the cover and video, culminating in a comprehensive project honoring Neriya's memory.
The family conveyed their emotional response to the tribute, stating that they believe Neriya would be deeply moved by the homage from wherever his soul rests. 'VeHarikoti' stands out in a music scene saturated with frequent releases by offering a meaningful way to remember and honor a lost friend, transforming music into a bridge between past and present, pain and hope.
