Teen Attacked Brutally on Eilat Promenade After Refusing Cigarette Request

A 19-year-old Israeli youth was violently assaulted on the Eilat promenade late at night after refusing to give a cigarette to a minor and commenting on disruptive behavior. The incident occurred around midnight as the young man and two friends were returning to their hotel. They encountered a commotion between two groups of girls, one of whom asked for a cigarette. After the refusal, the girl asked her boyfriend to "take care of it," leading to threats and a rapid escalation into a group attack.

The victim described being thrown to the ground and beaten severely, suffering injuries all over his body. Despite his friend's efforts to intervene, the assault continued until he was left spitting blood. He was initially treated at Yoseftal Hospital in Eilat and later required further hospitalization and ongoing medical treatment. The young man expressed his trauma and warned others about the ease with which violence can erupt.

The Israel Police launched an investigation immediately after the report, collecting testimonies and evidence. Six minor suspects were arrested and brought before the Eilat Magistrate's Court, which released them under restrictive conditions including house arrest. A further court hearing is scheduled to consider extending these restrictions. The police continue to pursue the case as a serious violent assault on a public promenade in a popular tourist city.
