IDF Reserve Families Receive Support Through Nationwide Mobile Coffee Cart Initiative

As summer vacation is underway, thousands of families of Israeli reservists and permanent soldiers face ongoing challenges due to repeated military call-ups. To support these families, a new nationwide initiative called "Hug on Wheels" launched last weekend, featuring a mobile coffee cart that travels to families across Israel, offering free refreshments and a moment of respite. The menu includes items such as "Champions' Iced Coffee," "Lionesses' Slush," "Fighters' Lemonade," chocolate treats, and American-style ice cream.

The first stop took place at the waterfront in Acre, in collaboration with the city municipality, community centers network, and the "Ometz" group. The event included dinner, outdoor activities, capoeira workshops, crafts, and soap bubbles. Over the next two to three months, the coffee cart will visit 34 cities and towns nationwide.

Abraham Atiya, coordinator of the "Community Hug" initiative under the Communities Foundation led by attorney Yitzhak Laks, emphasized the importance of supporting reservist families, calling them "the backbone of the country" who have been carrying the nation for nearly three years. The initiative is part of a broader support framework launched after the outbreak of Operation Iron Swords, including children's activities, community events, and assistance with daily needs.

Nahal Cohen, coordinator for reservist families and a reservist herself, highlighted the emotional impact of the project, saying it reminds families they are not forgotten and provides them with strength. She also noted the growing sense of community among families through these events, praising the collaboration between Acre's municipality, community centers, and the Ometz group. The initiative aims to acknowledge the sacrifices of reservists' families and offer them tangible support during demanding times.
