Israel's Nature Authority Launches Interactive Family Game Across 15 National Parks
The Israel Nature and Parks Authority, in collaboration with Maariv newspaper, has introduced a new interactive family game called "Mysteries of Time" available throughout August. The game operates in 15 national parks and nature reserves, offering visitors a unique way to explore these sites beyond traditional hiking and sightseeing. Participants solve puzzles, follow a digital guide, and listen to a humorous podcast while discovering historical stories and characters connected to each location.
Developed jointly with the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, the Council for the Preservation of Heritage Sites in Israel, Initiative 929, the Administration for Israeli Judaism, and the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, the game aims to provide an engaging educational experience. Dr. Haggai Dvir, the tourism product manager at the Nature Authority, emphasized that the game allows families to experience the parks from a fresh perspective, combining physical activity with historical learning and interactive challenges.
Suitable for children aged seven and older, the activity lasts approximately 90 to 120 minutes and requires participants to use a smartphone with WhatsApp installed to navigate the route. The game is weather-dependent, and visitors are advised to check the Nature Authority’s website before arrival. The 15 participating sites include Tel Dan Nature Reserve, Gamla Nature Reserve, Chorazin National Park, Zippori National Park, Beit She'arim National Park, Arbel National Park and Nature Reserve, Beit She'an National Park, Yarkon National Park (Tel Afek area), Castel National Site, Beit Guvrin National Park, Herodion Park, Qumran National Park, Ein Gedi Antiquities Complex, Masada National Park, and Yotvata Hai-Bar Nature Reserve.
Participation costs an additional 25 shekels per family or 20 shekels for Matmon subscribers, on top of the regular entrance fees. This initiative is part of a summer series highlighting new experiences in Israel’s national parks and nature reserves.
