Jewish Teen Wearing Kippah Assaulted with Metal Chair in Miami Starbucks

An 18-year-old Jewish man wearing a kippah was violently attacked at a Starbucks inside a Target store in North Miami Beach, Florida. The assailant, 43-year-old Chevonne Juanita Palmer from North Miami, shouted "I hate them" at the victim and attempted to strike him with a metal chair. The incident occurred during the afternoon at the Target on Biscayne Boulevard. According to police reports, Palmer first struck the young man twice with a cellphone before returning to her seat. Shortly after, she rose again holding a metal chair and approached him aggressively. Two women intervened to prevent further harm, escorting the victim to a safe area within the store. The victim, who did not know Palmer and had no prior interaction with her, described the attack as unprovoked. Palmer was arrested on-site and faces charges including aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon motivated by bias, and reckless conduct. She was held at Turner Guilford Knight detention center and later released on bail. Police noted her inconsistent statements and mentioned she spoke repeatedly about an unknown woman allegedly threatening her. The case is being investigated as a hate crime.
