Bnei Akiva Yeshiva Condemns Givat Shmuel Mayor for Unilateral Funding Cuts and Demands Reversal

The leadership of the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva and Ulpana network has publicly accused the Givat Shmuel municipality, led by Mayor Yossi Brodny, of unilaterally canceling the yeshiva's operating agreement and halting financial support. This escalation follows recent weeks of what the yeshiva describes as a series of unilateral measures against the institution, including stopping ongoing budgetary support and funds allocated for renovations and classroom construction.

The yeshiva's head, Rabbi Shraga Prochter, expressed to parents the severe difficulties faced, stating, "My strength is waning." The network claims the municipality is attempting to seize yeshiva property historically owned by the Bnei Akiva center since the time of Rabbis Moshe Zvi Neriah and Avraham Zuckerman. They also referenced ongoing legal and administrative proceedings involving building investigations and critical statements against the yeshiva's management.

The Bnei Akiva leadership criticized the mayor for actions that threaten the yeshiva's stability and future, which they say negatively impact hundreds of local students. Instead of focusing on preparing for the upcoming school year and advancing student achievements, the yeshiva staff must now devote significant effort to this conflict. The network called on Givat Shmuel residents and city council members to support their cause.

In a final appeal, the yeshiva leadership urged Mayor Brodny to immediately reverse his decisions, resume support for the yeshiva as legally and morally required, and respect Rabbi Prochter's leadership for the benefit of the community and students.
