Bnei Akiva Yeshiva Faces Early Contract Termination by Givat Shmuel Municipality
The Bnei Akiva Yeshiva and Ulpana Center announced that the Givat Shmuel municipality has unilaterally decided to terminate its contract to operate the yeshiva before the agreement's scheduled end. The center informed parents of students at the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in Givat Shmuel about the municipality's decision, which also includes plans to establish a new middle school in the city. The center warned that this move could primarily harm the students and their families, disrupting educational continuity and potentially halting municipal subsidies that help cover tuition fees, possibly resulting in thousands of shekels in additional costs per family.
The center also expressed concerns about uncertainty surrounding planned summer renovations and preparations for the upcoming school year. They highlighted the yeshiva's strong academic achievements, including a 99% matriculation eligibility rate and notable successes in Talmud and mathematics. The Bnei Akiva Yeshiva and Ulpana Center stated they are using all available means to maintain the yeshiva's stability, protect students' rights, and ensure the smooth operation of the next school year.
There remains hope for renewed dialogue prioritizing the students' welfare, with the yeshiva head, Rabbi Shraga Prochter, appealing to the parents' council to resume negotiations. The Givat Shmuel municipality declined to comment when approached by Channel 7.
