Maccabi Tel Aviv Fans Frustrated as Key Players Face High-Value Sales Amid Sparse Signings
Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters are growing increasingly impatient this summer due to persistent rumors about the departure of key players and a lack of significant new signings. Several central figures, including Elye Warela, Said Abu Farhi, Roy Revivo, and Tyrese Asante, are reportedly up for sale at substantial prices. Warela, who recently boosted his value by playing in the World Cup, is expected to be sold to a European club for between 6 and 8 million euros. Meanwhile, MLS club Colorado has offered 6 million euros for Abu Farhi, but Maccabi demands at least 8 million euros.
Roy Revivo has sought to leave the club for two consecutive years and was absent from the recent match against CSKA Sofia due to serious interest from Spanish club Elche. However, the Spanish offer of 1.5 million euros falls short of Maccabi’s asking price of 3 million euros. Dutch defender Tyrese Asante is also likely to depart, with several European clubs, particularly from Italy, negotiating for his transfer. Asante has stated he is carefully considering all offers and that staying with Maccabi remains a realistic option.
On the recruitment front, Maccabi Tel Aviv has signed only two players so far: returning Israeli player Dan Glazer from Kazakhstan’s Kairat and foreign player Ester Sokler from Serbian club Radnički Kragujevac. Additionally, five players have returned from loan spells at various Israeli clubs. Conversely, three players, including two foreign players who struggled to settle in Israel, have left the club.
If Warela and Asante do leave, Maccabi Tel Aviv will be left with only five foreign players on its roster, including Ion Nicolascu, a Moldovan striker recovering from a serious injury but whom the club wishes to part ways with. Serbian midfielder Kristian Blic, also counted among the foreign players, has been repeatedly injured, prompting the club to seek a replacement. The current situation has left fans frustrated as they await clarity on the club’s transfer strategy and squad stability.
