Israeli Electricity Company Fraud Probe Uncovers 5 Million Shekel Scam

Israeli police revealed a fraud case involving approximately 5 million shekels at the Israel Electric Corporation after moving the investigation into a public phase over the weekend. The Haifa District Police's Fraud Division arrested several suspects, including the main suspect, whose detention was extended by the court on Monday. The covert investigation, conducted over recent months, uncovered suspicions of a sophisticated fraud scheme within the company. Authorities suspect multiple employees were involved, with the primary suspect, a resident of Kafr Manda, allegedly collaborating with others to obtain financial benefits illegally. The fraud reportedly involved unauthorized payments of electricity debts on behalf of other individuals. Following the arrests last weekend, the police requested an additional four-day extension of the main suspect's detention to continue the inquiry, which the court approved.
