Israeli Police Arrest Employees in 5 Million Shekel Electricity Fraud Case

Israeli police have arrested several individuals suspected of orchestrating a fraud scheme involving approximately five million shekels at the Israel Electric Corporation. The arrests followed a covert investigation conducted over recent months. Authorities allege that multiple employees of the company were involved in the scam, which centered on illicitly paying off electricity debts for others to gain financial benefits. The main suspect, a resident of the village of Manda in the Galilee, is believed to have collaborated with other company workers to carry out the fraudulent activities. On Sunday, a court approved the police request to extend the main suspect's detention by an additional four days to allow further investigation. This marks the second time his detention has been extended, according to a police statement.
