Israeli Forces Employ Advanced Robotic Dog for Battlefield Support and Rescue Missions
Dr. Alex Polishuk, director of the Robotics Center at MadaTech Haifa, showcased an advanced robotic dog on the Israeli morning show "Israel HaBoker." This robot, imported from China, mimics the movements and balance of real animals and is designed to assist Israeli forces in various challenging scenarios, including combat zones and complex rescue operations.
The robotic dog features bio-mimicry technology, replicating biological mechanisms of animals to achieve exceptional flexibility and mobility. It can move sideways without turning, similar to a crab, and is even more advanced than a real dog in some aspects. Equipped with sensors that detect infrared radiation from living bodies, it can identify terrorists and assist in locating terror tunnels.
Beyond mobility, the robot has arms capable of carrying equipment and providing first aid on the battlefield, reducing risks to human soldiers. Despite concerns about data security due to its Chinese origin and potential information transmission to foreign entities, the integration of such unmanned tools represents a significant technological leap aimed at minimizing risks and safeguarding soldiers' lives.
Dr. Polishuk emphasized the robot's utility not only in military operations but also in civilian rescue efforts, such as after earthquakes. The Israeli Defense Forces have already been using similar robotic technologies in recent conflicts, highlighting the growing role of robotic animals in both civilian and military applications.
