Health Ministry Orders Partial Closure of Petah Tikva Assisted Living Facility Over Medication Shortages

The Israeli Ministry of Health has issued a partial administrative closure order for the assisted living facility "Nof HaMoshava" in Petah Tikva following a surprise inspection that revealed significant deficiencies, including medication shortages for several residents and the absence of an emergency drug stockpile. The inspection also found that these medication management issues had been identified in a previous audit but were not adequately addressed.

Additionally, the inspection uncovered a lack of a functional patient lift in the facility's nursing department, equipment essential for safely transferring immobile or heavy patients. Due to these findings, the Ministry has banned the facility from admitting new residents immediately, regardless of their funding source, until the problems are resolved and the Ministry grants approval to resume admissions.

Current residents are not required to leave and will continue to receive care at the facility. Following the Ministry's intervention, the missing medications were replenished. The closure order underscores the severity of the regulatory violations and the need for the facility to comply fully with health standards before accepting new patients again.
