Israeli Olympian Daria Golovaty Returns to Paris for European Swimming Championships

Israeli Olympic swimmer Daria Golovaty is set to compete in the European Swimming Championships starting Monday in Paris, exactly two years after the Olympic Games were held there. Having relocated to the United States over the past year, Golovaty now swims for the University of Louisville and will participate in the 50, 100, 200, and 400-meter freestyle events. In a special interview with Sport 5, she expressed excitement about returning to Paris and described the competition as a meaningful full circle in her career.

Golovaty reflected on her professional growth since the Olympics, noting that although she had not competed in a long-course pool for two years due to military service and other factors, this break allowed her to recharge and come back stronger. She emphasized that she is currently in her best physical shape, even better than during the Paris Olympics, after intense training both abroad and in Israel.

Discussing her goals for the championship, Golovaty stated she is aiming to reach the finals, a target she has discussed extensively with her coach Leonid Kaufman. She also highlighted the joy of training with the Israeli national team again after spending significant time abroad, appreciating the strong team cohesion and shared high ambitions. Representing Israel holds great significance for her, especially now, as she wants to demonstrate the country's presence and capabilities on the international stage.
