Israeli Supreme Court Upholds Main Convictions in 16-Year-Old’s Red Sea Hotel Gang Rape Case

The Israeli Supreme Court ruled on appeals related to the August 2020 gang rape of a 16-year-old girl at the Red Sea Hotel in Eilat. The court rejected the appeal of the primary perpetrator, who was sentenced to 22 years in prison, as well as the appeal of another adult involved centrally in the assault, who received a 14-year sentence.

However, the court reduced the prison terms for the other minor defendants. Regarding one adult defendant, the court acquitted him of charges of aiding the rape but convicted him of aggravated indecent acts, based on his passive role of watching the assault. Additionally, the sentence of a minor who was involved but did not enter the room was also reduced.
