Smotrich Could Secure 10 Knesset Seats Through Religious Zionism and Zehut Union

Religious Zionism, led by Bezalel Smotrich, is currently struggling to surpass the electoral threshold independently, often polling just four to five seats, which leaves the party vulnerable to political extinction. Meanwhile, the Zehut party, which also faces uncertain chances of crossing the threshold, remains confident it can succeed alone despite historical setbacks and polling data suggesting otherwise.

A recent poll conducted by Maagar Mochot between July 23-27, 2026, among 501 Israeli adults, shows that a technical bloc uniting Religious Zionism and Zehut could win 10 Knesset seats, a significant increase compared to their individual prospects. This alliance could strengthen the right-wing coalition to 55 seats, and with other small party mergers, potentially reach 61 seats, enabling the formation of the next government.

Zehut has approached Religious Zionism multiple times to discuss a possible union but has not received a positive response yet. Zehut’s support mainly comes from voters of other right-wing parties, including 13% from Otzma Yehudit, 3% from Yisrael HaYom, and 2% from Likud, indicating that votes lost by Zehut could diminish the overall right-wing bloc.

The poll underscores the precarious position of both parties individually but highlights the potential electoral strength they could achieve together, preventing vote wastage and bolstering the right-wing camp ahead of upcoming elections.
