Despite US President Donald Trump’s claim that an agreement between Washington and Tehran would be signed on Sunday, Iranian messages remained contradictory and denied that the sides had reached a final understanding. A source described as close to the negotiating team told the Iranian news agency Fars that Tehran has not yet made a final decision on the deal with the Americans.
The source said, “Iran has not yet announced its final decision regarding the proposed memorandum of understanding.” It added that Iranian officials are still examining the political, legal and technical aspects of the proposals, both at the expert level and at the decision-making level.
The report did not say when a final decision might be made, but it directly contradicted Trump’s public forecast that the agreement would be completed the same day.
