Two 16-Year-Olds Charged for Multiple Burglaries at Bnei Brak Municipality Building

A joint investigation by Bnei Brak police and the Central Unit (YAMAR) of the Tel Aviv district police led to the indictment and detention request against two 16-year-old minors suspected of breaking into the Bnei Brak municipality building twice in July 2026. The indictment, filed by the Tel Aviv District Juvenile Prosecution Unit, accuses the teens of serious offenses including burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, and intentional property damage.

The break-ins began on July 10, 2026, with initial police reports of the municipal building being breached. The suspects returned a week later on July 17, repeating the same modus operandi. During both incidents, the perpetrators caused significant destruction to municipal offices and infrastructure, stealing numerous mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic equipment used by city employees.

Following the reports, a special investigation team was formed at the Bnei Brak station, with the Central Unit joining due to the severity of the crime targeting a key local government institution. Investigators collected forensic evidence and employed advanced technological and covert methods to track the suspects.

Their efforts culminated in early August when police raided the suspects' residence on August 2, discovering a large cache of stolen items believed to be from the municipality. The minors’ detention has been extended multiple times to complete the investigation. With the evidence now consolidated, the prosecution has requested their continued detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings, citing the gravity and danger of their actions.
