MK Limor Son Har-Melech Demands Investigation Into Shin Bet Leak to Journalist

Israeli Member of Knesset Limor Son Har-Melech has called on Shin Bet chief David Zini to launch a thorough investigation into allegations that confidential information was leaked to journalist Ben Caspit. In a letter sent on Thursday, Son Har-Melech claimed that during an ongoing legal proceeding, evidence emerged showing improper conduct by Shin Bet spokespersons, who allegedly disclosed sensitive details about her parliamentary aide, Elisha Yard, to Caspit. She accused the security service of using this information to obstruct Yard's appointment as her spokesperson and to undermine her parliamentary work and the broader national camp.

Son Har-Melech demanded an immediate inquiry into the chain of command and all individuals involved in approving and transmitting the confidential data. She called for the dismissal of all Shin Bet employees implicated in the leak and interference. Furthermore, she requested that the investigation's findings be forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement authorities to consider criminal proceedings against those responsible.

In her letter, she emphasized that a security organization must not be exploited for political purposes and rejected any attempts by Shin Bet personnel to influence the composition of her parliamentary office. This development follows a legal case revealing what she described as unprecedented and illegal interference by the Shin Bet spokesperson unit in her parliamentary affairs.
