Israeli actor and comedian Guri Alfi recently opened up about a pivotal decision he made over 20 years ago, in 2003, when his first daughter, Emma, was born. He chose to stop working on Shabbat to dedicate the day to family time. Alfi explained that he wanted to take his daughter on outings and make Shabbat a special time for them together.

Alfi acknowledged that this choice was not always easy in his profession, especially since some productions were scheduled on Saturdays. He firmly told producers he would not work on Shabbat, emphasizing his commitment to spending the day with his family. Over time, he had to repeatedly explain his decision, but gradually more people understood and accepted it. He candidly stated, "Yes, I keep Shabbat."

Despite his commitment, Alfi faced criticism for not fully observing Shabbat in all aspects, such as traveling on Saturdays. He addressed this by saying he embraces the unique aspect of Jewish tradition that allows certain activities on Shabbat, highlighting the personal nature of his observance.
