Iranian President Admits Difficulty Communicating with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei

Iranian President Masoud Pezhkian revealed in a state television interview that communication with the country's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has become very difficult. Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly since assuming the role following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint US-Israeli strike on February 28. Pezhkian made these remarks after a phone conversation with Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas's political bureau. According to Iranian media, Pezhkian assured al-Hayya that Tehran would support any initiative or decision made by Palestinian leaders within the framework of the indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel.

Pezhkian also commented on Mojtaba Khamenei's stance, stating that the Supreme Leader accepted expert opinions regarding a memorandum of understanding and would support it if it received backing from 75% of votes. Despite the communication challenges, Pezhkian emphasized that Mojtaba Khamenei's presence remains a source of strength for Iran.
