Israeli Bar Chief Faces Backlash Over Two-Minute Court Silence for Murdered Lawyer

The move, made on Wednesday, was intended as a symbolic gesture of mourning and protest against violence targeting lawyers. However, many lawyers criticized the action as insufficient and poorly timed, given that it occurred during the court recess period when hearings are already paused.

Critics argued that the Bar Association should have pursued more substantial measures over the years, including legislative changes and stronger protections for lawyers facing threats and violence.
