Minister Of Aliyah And Integration Of Israel Ofir Sofer Stands By His Decision To Leave Politics

About three weeks after announcing his retirement from political life, Israeli Minister of Aliyah and Integration Ofir Sofer expressed satisfaction with his decision in an interview with Channel 7. Speaking during the launch of a national program to encourage teachers and educators from North America to immigrate to Israel, Sofer said he has received many reactions, including condolences, but remains confident that he made the right choice. "I think I made the right decision," he stated.

Sofer also addressed the state of Israel's education system and the goals of the new program, which is led by the Nefesh B'Nefesh organization, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration. He emphasized that while Israeli society tackles many national challenges, it has neglected education, which he described as the key engine of growth and strength for the country.

The program aims to bring educators from North America who feel a sense of mission to immigrate and integrate into Israel's education system. Sofer highlighted that these individuals have demonstrated Zionism by leaving their lives abroad to dedicate themselves to teaching in Israel. At the event, Rabbi Yehoshua Fass, CEO of Nefesh B'Nefesh, praised Sofer's cooperation, noting that despite working with 14 previous ministers, they had never encountered someone like him and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work together.
