Father and Son Share Emotional Moment at IDF Induction Center Before Combat Service

At the Tel Hashomer induction center, Y', a graduate of the Hesder Yeshiva in Elon Moreh, arrived for his IDF enlistment into the Armored Corps accompanied by his father, Dvir, a reservist and combat soldier. The scene was filled with families, prayers, and emotional farewells as hundreds of Hesder Yeshiva students began their military service. Y' described his enlistment not as a new chapter but as a continuation of his two years of Torah study, emphasizing that serving in the army is an integral part of their mission to the people of Israel. He explained that the connection between yeshiva study and military service reflects a comprehensive worldview, highlighting the privilege of both learning Torah in Israel and defending the country.

Dvir, who has experienced military service and reserve duty, admitted that enlisting his son was an emotionally challenging moment, more difficult than his own or his brothers' enlistments. Despite the difficulty, he expressed pride and hope, praying for his son's success and safety. Drawing from his experience, he advised Y' to remain committed and joyful throughout his service, even when orders are unclear, always keeping the bigger picture in mind.

Y' also finds strength in enlisting alongside five friends from his yeshiva, confident their strong bonds will support them through difficult times. The atmosphere at the induction center reflected the Hesder Yeshiva spirit, combining Torah study, a sense of mission, and dedication to contributing to the state.
