IDF Investigation Finds Clear Rules of Engagement in Tel Village Attack but Highlights Operational Failures

However, the inquiry identified several operational shortcomings, including an insufficient number of forces deployed and the absence of a comprehensive situational overview.

During the evacuation of Lieutenant Colonel Yuval Ezra, who was killed in action, another soldier, Benyahu Malat, also killed in action, remained wounded on the ground for an extended period. He was treated by a civilian medic without military presence nearby. The investigation could not definitively determine the cause of Malat's injury, suggesting it might have resulted from friendly fire during efforts to neutralize the attackers.
