Vinicius Jr. clashes with FIFA official during World Cup halftime
Brazil opened its 2026 World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Morocco, but the match also produced a heated halftime confrontation involving Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian star was angry with the officiating after, in his view, he was not awarded a foul just before the break.
As he walked into the players' tunnel, a FIFA reporter approached for the usual halftime interview. Vinicius refused, kept moving, and the exchange escalated. According to the report, the FIFA representative warned him, "You will be fined for that."
Vinicius shot back, "We will pay, and no one will come to interview at halftime anymore." Despite the incident, he was later named man of the match and spoke to the media after the final whistle.
