Brazil and Morocco Draw 1-1 in World Cup Opener
Brazil opened its World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Morocco in a lively Group C match. The Seleção, who were eliminated in the quarterfinals in each of the previous two World Cups, had hoped to start the tournament with a win over the team that was a surprise success in the last World Cup in Qatar.
Morocco struck first in the 21st minute through Ismail Saibari, putting Brazil under pressure early. Brazil responded 11 minutes later, when Vinícius levelled the score with a fine goal in the 32nd minute.
After an eventful contest, both sides left with one point apiece. The result leaves Brazil without the victory it wanted in its first match of the tournament, while Morocco confirmed its ability to trouble one of the favorites.
