Trump Discusses Strait of Hormuz Deal Progress with Qatar's Emir Amid US-Iran Tensions

On Tuesday evening, US President Donald Trump spoke with Qatar's Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who updated him on significant progress in negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz. According to a Qatari statement, the two leaders reviewed efforts to reduce tensions between the US and Iran, with the Emir emphasizing the importance of adhering to the agreements outlined in the memorandum of understanding signed between Washington and Tehran.

Earlier reports from Al Arabiya indicated that intensive discussions were underway, with an anticipated agreement expected within hours or by the following day at the latest. The deal reportedly involves substantial concessions to Iran, including effective control over ship movements in the Strait of Hormuz. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the progress, stating that while the talks are not finalized, he hopes an agreement will be reached soon.

Simultaneously, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bakai described the talks with Oman as "positive," both technically and politically. This development comes amid ongoing efforts to ease US-Iran tensions and secure navigation through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
