Trump to Meet Gulf and Middle East Leaders at G7, Not Netanyahu, as US-Iran Deal Nears
As a deal between the United States and Iran moves closer, possibly within a day of signing, a senior American official said President Donald Trump will hold a series of meetings with Middle Eastern leaders on the margins of the G7 summit, but not with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the official, Trump is expected to meet leaders from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and other Middle Eastern countries during the summit in France from June 15 to 17.
The report also noted that Netanyahu is subject to an international arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, and that France, as a party to the Rome Statute, is obligated to comply with it.
Separately, a senior Israeli official said on Saturday night that the memorandum of understanding expected to be signed Sunday between the United States and Iran is “not a good deal.” The official said, “No one is happy with it. We understand that it is not good for us, and that it harms Israeli interests. What worries us is that Israel cannot influence it. Its voice is not heard.”
