U.S. Official Says Trump Will Meet Middle East Leaders Without Netanyahu
A senior U.S. administration official said Washington believes a deal with Iran is in place, describing it as a “strong agreement.” He added that if the Strait of Hormuz is reopened, the United States will be involved in clearing mines there.
The official also laid out President Donald Trump’s schedule at the G7 working meeting. Trump is set to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and to dine on Wednesday at Versailles Palace with French President Emmanuel Macron.
On the sidelines of those talks, Trump plans to meet leaders from the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and other Middle Eastern countries. The official said he also intends to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of France, Egypt, and India.
The official noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not attend Trump’s meetings with Middle Eastern leaders.
