Development Nears Completion for Reestablishing Kadim Settlement in Northern West Bank

Twenty-one years after the 2005 disengagement that uprooted Kadim from the northern West Bank, the Shomron Regional Council and the Amana settlement movement are finalizing development and infrastructure work to rebuild the community. This effort is part of the "Connection Plan," led by the Shomron Regional Council, which aims to replace the four settlements removed in the northern West Bank disengagement with 19 new communities. The plan follows a government decision spearheaded by Defense Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and is integrated into the "Million in Shomron" initiative promoted in 2023 by Shomron Council head Yossi Dagan alongside engineers and professionals to relocate one million Israelis to the region.

The extensive groundwork includes earthworks, access and internal roads, and installation of electricity, water, and sewage infrastructure, along with preparation of public building sites. In the coming weeks, families, primarily from Tel Aviv and central Israel, including graduates of Zionist yeshivas and Iron Swords War reservists, will begin moving to Kadim to reestablish the settlement. These families have been preparing for months with tours and coordination alongside Yossi Dagan and Amana teams.

The return to Kadim marks a significant milestone in a more than two-decade struggle led by Yossi Dagan and former residents of Homesh and Sa-Nur to overturn the disengagement law and renew settlement in northern Shomron. This effort completes the planned return to all four settlements removed in 2005.

Yossi Dagan described the moment as historic, emphasizing that the heavy machinery at work symbolizes the victory of settlement and the State of Israel, correcting a historic injustice and revitalizing northern Shomron. He said, "In a few weeks, the first families will arrive, continuing the major process of restoring settlement in northern Shomron. This is the Zionist, ethical, and national response to attempts at uprooting."

Oz Tsohar, head of the founding group, expressed deep excitement about the development work, highlighting the national responsibility felt by the settlers. He noted that they see themselves as emissaries of the entire Jewish people and are eagerly preparing to build a thriving, strong community.
