Trump Sets Urgent Deadline for Iran on Strait of Hormuz Agreement with Israel Planned for Cancelled Strike

According to a dramatic Bloomberg report, US President Donald Trump imposed a tight deadline for Iran to reach an agreement with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday. Trump warned that failure to comply would result in devastating airstrikes against Iran, a military action that was planned but ultimately called off over the weekend. The report revealed that Israel was also slated to participate in the cancelled attack.

Trump emphasized his firm stance in a conversation with reporters, stating, "I want to give them one last chance before the beheading," and added, "You will find out today or tomorrow. They will disappear quickly, one way or another. It’s not very complicated." The immediate ultimatum comes amid difficult diplomatic negotiations led by Oman to open an alternative shipping route, as the current passage is heavily mined. Iran insists on its right to control maritime traffic and demands payment for passage, a demand Trump has flatly rejected, declaring "there will be no payment" for access to the strait.

In response to US threats, Mohsen Rezaei, adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, called on the US to return to the June agreement terms and warned of escalation. He stated that American warships and bases would face serious danger if the US does not lift the blockade. Currently, almost no ships pass through the strait except a few with Iranian approval.

The looming Tuesday deadline is already impacting global markets amid the ongoing war that began in February 2026. Brent crude oil prices rose 1.8% to $85.29 per barrel. These rapid developments and rising energy costs are increasing political pressure on the Republican administration ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections.
