National Insurance Reports Divorce Rates Among Reservists Align With National Average

The National Insurance Institute of Israel released new data on Tuesday regarding the marital status of reservists, showing that the divorce and separation rates among them are comparable to the general population. According to the data, 26% of reservists who divorced or separated did so after their first period of service, a figure close to the national average of 28%. The report indicates that 44% of reservists are married or in common-law relationships, 53% are single, 3% divorced or separated, and about 0.5% are widowed.

Despite the similar divorce rates, the National Insurance Institute emphasized the significant challenges that extended military service poses to reservists' families. The data was published as part of ongoing monitoring of the social impact of prolonged reserve duty, alongside managing reserve service benefits and support for families, including spouses who separated during this time.

Zvika Cohen, acting CEO of the National Insurance Institute, stated, "Reservists' families are the backbone of Israel's national resilience at this time. Although divorce rates among reservists match the national average, it is crucial to recognize the clear challenges and complexities that extended service imposes on family units." He added that the institute will continue providing social support to reservists and their families and urged all relevant parties to address the unique difficulties faced by these families.
