Iranian military officials are reported to be steering Hezbollah support in Lebanon

Iranian military officials operating in Lebanon are continuing to help Hezbollah and serve as a liaison between the group and Tehran, according to a report by Kan News. The report says that, alongside Iran’s ambassador in Beirut, senior Iranian military figures stationed in the country are involved in decision-making and in relaying Hezbollah’s battlefield situation to Iran’s leadership during the confrontation with Israel.

The same officials are also said to be working to advance deeper Iranian involvement in Lebanon, while conveying Hezbollah’s needs back to Tehran. According to the report, they may even have played a role in Iran’s decision to respond directly to the Israeli strike in the Dahiya neighborhood of Beirut.

The report adds that these officials are helping bring in money, equipment, weapons and training for Hezbollah. The effort is meant to strengthen the organization as the Lebanese authorities try to curb its activity.
