Trump Warns Iran of Last Chance for Deal Before Military Action

On Monday evening, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that Iran faces its "last chance" to reach a deal with the United States. Speaking to reporters in the White House's Oval Office, Trump said, "We want to give Iran one last opportunity before we cut off their heads," adding, "I hope they come to their senses." He emphasized that ongoing talks with Iran are progressing well and that the U.S. will not allow Tehran to collect fees for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump revealed that negotiations are active and continuous, with discussions about reopening the Strait of Hormuz possibly starting as soon as today or tomorrow. He praised his Middle East envoy, Stephen Biegun, for doing a "fantastic job" in the talks. The president also disclosed that the U.S. was very close to launching a severe military strike against Iran, describing it as potentially the strongest attack since World War II. However, several leaders, including Iranians who expressed a desire to negotiate, urged restraint.

Earlier, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social, accusing Iran's leadership of duplicity. He noted that while Iran requested a meeting and some claimed they "begged," they simultaneously claim they are not negotiating and only engage with Oman. Trump asserted that despite Iran's claims of controlling the Strait of Hormuz, it is currently dominated by the U.S. Navy. He concluded that negotiations with Iran are ongoing regardless of Tehran's stance.
