Skulen-Lakewood Rebbe Visits Israel for Son’s Twins Birth and Religious Celebrations

The Skulen-Lakewood Rebbe is traveling from the United States to Jerusalem this week to celebrate the birth of twins, a boy and a girl, to his son Rabbi Eliezer Zusia Portugal. The visit marks a joyous occasion for the Skulen Hasidic community in Israel, with several significant religious events planned. On Tuesday night, a festive 'Vacht Nacht' will be held, followed by a large brit milah (circumcision ceremony) on Wednesday, attended by many followers and admirers.

During his stay, the Rebbe will meet with his Hasidim to offer guidance and blessings ahead of the upcoming Days of Awe. He will also spend the Sabbath of Elul in Jerusalem alongside his younger brother, the Skulen Rebbe of Jerusalem. On Shabbat morning, a special 'Kiddushah Rabba' celebration will take place in honor of the birth of his granddaughter.

On Tuesday, the eve of Rosh Chodesh Elul, the Rebbe will visit the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai in Meron to pray for communal and personal salvation. He will also visit the 'Chesed LeAvraham' institution, founded by previous Skulen Rebbes. The Rebbe is expected to return to his home in Lakewood next week after this uplifting visit.

This visit highlights the strong ties between the Skulen Hasidic communities in the United States and Israel, centered around family milestones and spiritual preparation for the High Holy Days.
