IDF Strikes Continue in Gaza Despite Kushner's Efforts for Ceasefire, 18 Reported Dead

Eighteen hours after Palestinian figure Mohammed Dahlan claimed that Jared Kushner was working with Israel to halt attacks in Gaza, Palestinians reported 18 fatalities from Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning. Among the dead was Nafaz Sabih, identified as a commander in Hamas's Al-Qassam Brigades, though his exact role was not specified. The Israeli military did not officially confirm any strikes on that day, despite reports suggesting Israel was expected to pause attacks under an agreement with Hamas. The IDF continues to control approximately 63% of Gaza.

Doron Shpilman, spokesperson for the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, told the Associated Press that Israel had shared serious concerns with the White House regarding the ceasefire agreement with Hamas. Israeli intelligence assesses that Hamas remains committed to rebuilding its military capabilities rather than disarming. Shpilman emphasized that the IDF will not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas fully disarms, warning that premature redeployment could enable Hamas to expand its presence, rebuild terror infrastructure, and potentially launch attacks similar to those on October 7.

The Peace Council for Gaza, initiated by former U.S. President Donald Trump, revealed a "roadmap" on Friday outlining a phased, time-limited, and internationally supervised plan for disarming terrorist groups and militias and for Israel's full withdrawal from Gaza. The plan calls for a detailed timetable within 14 days of approval by both parties, culminating in transferring all civilian and security authority to a newly formed National Committee for Gaza Administration (NCAG). The agreement stresses "one authority, one law, one weapon," requiring Hamas and other Palestinian factions to relinquish control and store heavy weapons and tunnels exclusively under the committee's authority.

The proposed agreement involves the United States, Israel, Hamas, and Palestinian factions adopting Trump's peace plan as the basis for Gaza's future. Its goals include ending hostilities, completing Israel's withdrawal, establishing a new Palestinian governance mechanism, rehabilitating Gaza, and advancing a political path toward Palestinian self-determination and statehood. Implementation phases depend on full compliance verified by an international monitoring committee.

The plan also includes deploying an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire, protect humanitarian aid, train the Palestinian police, and assist the NCAG, though it will not perform policing duties. Concurrently, Israel will gradually withdraw according to an agreed schedule, while a multi-year reconstruction program funded and overseen internationally will commence. Additionally, an internal Palestinian peace agreement will be signed, committing to ending internal violence, banning revenge acts, military parades, and armed demonstrations.
