Saudi Crown Prince Blocks US Strike on Iran Despite UAE Pressure on Trump
The United Arab Emirates pressured then-US President Donald Trump to launch a broad military strike against Iranian energy facilities. However, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman intervened behind the scenes to prevent the attack. Reports indicate that bin Salman personally spoke with Trump, warning that a US strike on Iran's energy infrastructure could provoke retaliatory attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil and gas facilities, as well as those in other Gulf countries. In addition to Saudi Arabia's efforts, Qatar, Turkey, and Pakistan also worked in recent days to promote de-escalation and revive diplomatic negotiations.
