Support Rally Planned for Golani Brigade Soldiers Punished for Base Protest

A support rally for soldiers of the Golani Brigade's Sabra Battalion is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. outside Prison 10 in Beit Lid. The event is organized in response to prison sentences and combat duty dismissals imposed on 14 soldiers involved in a protest at the Sde Teyman base. Organizers urge the public to attend with Israeli flags and drums to show appreciation for the soldiers' prolonged service in Gaza and Lebanon.

The disciplinary measures were ordered by Golani Brigade commander Colonel Netanel Shamcha, who sentenced the soldiers to 30 days in prison and removed them from combat roles. The soldiers had abandoned their base in protest against the command's disrespect toward unit symbols known as "pogim." Organizers emphasize the rally aims to demonstrate nationwide support and solidarity with the imprisoned soldiers.

In parallel, the soldiers' parents sent a letter to IDF senior officials, arguing that a single disciplinary incident should not overshadow years of sacrifice, injuries, and losses in combat. They contend that the punishment of removing the soldiers from combat duty is a disgrace that does not reflect their operational contributions in Gaza and Lebanon.
