Mansour Abbas Conditions Jewish MK Yoav Segalovich's Move to Ra'am on Political Gains

The political drama surrounding MK Yoav Segalovich's planned switch from Yesh Atid to the Arab party Ra'am continues to face significant internal challenges. Although Segalovich, a retired police commissioner, has given preliminary consent to join Ra'am, the final decision rests with Ra'am chairman Mansour Abbas. Within Ra'am, some members have expressed reservations and formal opposition to including a Jewish figure on an Arab party list ahead of upcoming elections.

In response, Abbas has tempered expectations and avoided celebratory announcements. In a statement issued solely in Arabic, aimed at his core voter base, Abbas said it is too early to discuss political alliances. He emphasized that Ra'am is currently focused on internal preparations for its general conference scheduled for August 22, 2026, including primaries to select party representatives and completing organizational structures.

Abbas clarified that any political partnership or external membership will be evaluated later by party institutions based on electoral, political, and practical benefits. He set clear conditions for Segalovich's integration, stating it will only proceed if it advances Ra'am's key goals: replacing the current government, increasing chances of full coalition participation, and addressing critical issues in Arab society such as crime, home demolitions, and equality promotion.
